Mass of the Christian burial for Mathilda Boes was
celebrated this morning, Dec. 31, 1990, at St. Bernard Church in
Breda. Mrs. Boes, 81, of Breda, died Friday, Dec. 28, at St. Anthony
Regional Hospital in Carroll following a brief illness.
The main celebrant at the Mass was her son, Father
Marvin Boes. Concelebrants were Father Steve Boes and Father Thomas
Hart. Homilist was Father Steve Boes. Final prayers of commendation
were recited by Bishop Lawrence Soens.
Lector was a son, Eugene Boes. Gift bearers were grandchildren
Karen Oman, Tom Boes and Jeff Boes. Mass servers were Brad Stork
and Scott Masching.
Born Jan. 1, 1909, at Maple River, Iowa, she was a
daughter of John and Margaret (Julich) Fleskes, She attended St.
Francis Schools in Maple River and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Schools
in Mount Carmel.
On Feb. 5, 1929, she was married to Anthony Boes at
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel by Father Peter
Sturm. Following their marriage the couple farmed northwest of Breda.
Mrs. Boes moved to Breda in 1976. She was a member
of St. Bernard Parish in Breda, the Parish Ladies Guild and the
Breda Senior Citizens Club.
Mrs. Boes is survived by four sons, Vernon Boes and
his wife, Lois, of Minnetonka, Minn., Father Marvin Boes of Sioux
City, Kenneth Boes and his wife, Ruth, of Hindsdale, Ill., and Eugene
Boes and his wife, Mary Jane, of Elgin, Neb.; 13 grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Henrietta Bernardy
of Raymond, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
in 1967; one grandson; three brothers, Leo, Al and Ed Fleskes; and
a sister, Mrs. Ed Kanne.
