The Breda News, October 1991 Mrs. Philomena Thelen, 85, Breda, died Monday, Oct. 7, 1991 at the Carroll Health Center nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 1991, at Scared Heart Church [sic] in Breda with Revs. Marvin Boes and Thomas Hart officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Breda. Casket bearers will be Mrs. Thelen's six sons: Merlin Thelen, Leny Thelen, Allen Thelen, Roger Thelen, Wayne Thelen and Delmar Thelen. Mrs. Thelen was born Oct. 7, 1906, at Breda, the daughter of Theodore and Anna (Schulte) Boes. She spent her lifetime in the Breda area, attending St. Bernard Schools. She is survived by her children: Elsie Hausman of Carroll; Merlin Thelen and his wife, Lois, Omaha, Neb.; Leny Thelen and his wife, Jean, of Carroll; Lois Vogt and her husband, Dennis, of Omaha, Neb.; Myra Stangl and her husband, Don, of Carroll; Allen Thelen and his wife, Luella, of Carroll; Roger Thelen and his wife, Louise, of Homer, Neb.; Janet Overgaard and her husband, Alan, of Hendersonville, N.C.; Wayne Thelen and his wife Sarah, of Marble Falls, Texas; Delmar Thelen and his wife, Barb, of Fort Dodge; and Nancy Pudenz and her husband, Dave, of Auburn; 39 grandchildren; 43 great-grand-children; sisters Mathilda Thelen and her husband, Fred, of Breda and Rose Ludwig of Carroll; and brothers Albert Boes and his wife, Hendrina, of Breda, Raymond Boes and his wife, Margaret, of Wall Lake and Earl Boes and his wife, Alice, of Breda. Mrs. Thelen was preceded in death by her parents;
her husband, Math, in 1987; a daughter, Linda Lou; a grandson, Rick
Stangl; a son-in-law, Robert Hausman; and four brothers, Clemens
Boes, Edmund Boes, Clarence Boes and Tony Boes.
