Mass of the Christian burial for Ralph Grote will he celebrated at I p.m. Wednesday. Nov. 18. 1998. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel.

Mr. Grote, 68, of Carroll and formerly of Mount Carmel, died Sunday, Nov. 15, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Father Robert Brown will preside at the Mass. Lector will be Paul Grote. Gift bearers will be Patty Gehling and Karen Sadwith. Eucharistic minister will be Leonard Grote. The placement of Christian symbols will be by Mr. Grote's five sisters. Casket bearers will be his seven brothers. . Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery at Breda with military honors by the Breda American Legion.

Visitation began at 2:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and there will be a Christian wake service by the parish at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Grote was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Carroll, to Herman W. and Colette (Schettler) Grote. He spent his younger years in the Mount Carmel community and attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Schools. He entered the Army in February 1952 and served with the 3rd Armored Division. He was honorably discharged in May 1952. He farmed for several years for farmers in the community. He had lived at Mallard View Residential Care Facility since 1994.

Mr. Grote is survived by his mother, Colette Grote of Carroll; brothers, sisters and their spouses, Paul and Irma Grote of Carroll, Norbert Grote of Glidden, Leonard and Joyce Grote of Minooka, III., Jack and Doreen Grote of Carroll, Lorraine and Lyle Vonnahme of Arcadia, Jeanie and John Rosener of Newcastle, Neb., Jim and Mary Ann Grote of Glendale, Ariz., Mary and Leonard Sailer of Manning, Bill and Nancy Grote of Withe, Wis., Alice and John Hamilton of Jefferson, Judy and Duane Olberding of Coulter, Iowa, and Ted and Peggy Grote of Gibson City, III.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; and two sisters-in-law, Luella and Marlita Grote.
