Randy Haberl, 47 of Carroll, died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 7, 2011, at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home following a battle with multiple sclerosis.  

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 9, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Boekelman. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir.  Lector for the funeral mass will be Rita Bruch. Gift Bearers will be Randy’s children: Amber, Brandon, Colin, and Dereck Haberl. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Tom Kollasch, Alan Lemker, and Vince Gross.  

Casket Bearers will Jesse Schwanz, Cory Haberl, Nathan Haberl, Dustin Haberl, Scott Heinrichs, Steve Heinrichs, Dan Julich, and Louie Nagl.  Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:30 p.m., today where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m.  The casket will be taken to Holy Spirit Church at 8:30 a.m. Friday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on Oct. 21, 1963, at Carroll, Randy was the son of Donald and Mary Ann (Bauer) Haberl.

He grew up in the Maple River area and attended Carroll Community Schools, and graduated from Carroll High School.  Following his formal education Randy worked as a farm hand and later worked for Jerry Janning.  

Randy married Lynn Nieland on April 27, 1991.   

Randy started D & R. Construction with Dan Julich, which he co-owned and operated until his illness no longer allowed him to work.  

In his spare time Randy enjoyed fishing, camping, and was an avid game hunter.  He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll.

Survivors include his children Amber, Brandon, Colin, and Dereck Haberl, all at home in Breda; his parents, Don and Mary Ann Haberl of Maple River; five brother: Bob (Lorraine) Haberl of Rockwell City, Doug (Joyce) Haberl of Carroll, Tom Haberl of Breda, Scott Haberl of Moville, and Stan Haberl of Maple River; his brother-in-law, Rodney Rattenborg of Scranton; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ben and Genevieve Haberl, his maternal grandparents, John A. and Mary A. Bauer; his sister, Vickie Lynn Rattenborg; and his sister-in-law, Kris Haberl.
