Requiem mass for Raymond Gross, 57, of Route 2, Carroll, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Mt. Carmel.
The Rev. Dale Roster will officiate; burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 7 p.m. Tuesday. The rosary will be recited at 8 and 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, and at 3, 8 and 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. The 8 p.m. recitation Wednesday is for parishioners and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Gross died at 6:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll where he was admitted earlier that morning.
A lifelong resident of the Mt. Camel area, Mr. Grow was born March 18, 1914, at Mt. Carmel. His parents were William and Mary Pietig Gross. He received his education at Our Lady of Mt, Carmel School. On Aug. 17, 1937, he was married to Marcella Schettler at St. Bernard's Church in Breda, by the late Rev. Lawrence Greteman, The couple established their home on a farm seven miles north and one half mile east of Carroll, the present family
Mr. Gross was a member of Our Lady of Mt, Carmel Church and of the Charles Carroll Council, Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Sr. Suzanne Gross of Meriden, Conn.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Leanne Gross, who has just completed volunteer work with the Peace Corps In the Philippines; a brother, Norbert Gross of Carroll; and five sisters: Mrs. Aloys (Louise) Kanne, Mrs. Albert (Florence) Schapman, Mrs. Arnold (Rita) Meyer and Mrs. Herbert (Mae) Pudenz, all of Carroll, and Sr. Mynette Gross of La Crosse, Wis.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lt. Wayne Gross of the U.S. Marine Corps; and a brother, Paul Gross.
