Vernon Henry Mueggenborg 1929-2005

A wake for Vernon H. Mueggenborg,
76, of Kingfisher will be 7 p.m. today at Saints Peter and Paul
Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday
at the church. The Revs. Rick Stansberry and James Ross will officiate.
Burial will be in Kingfisher Cemetery with full military rites.
Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service, Kingfisher.
He was born June 12, 1929, in Kingfisher to Joseph
and Teresa Schaefer Mueggenborg and died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at
Kingfisher Regional Hospital.
He was raised and educated in Kingfisher. He served
in the Army during the Korean War returning to Kingfisher where
he farmed all his life.
He married Elaine Thomsen Aug. 7, 1955, at Saints
Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he was a member of the adult
choir for 60 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, fourth
degree, a member of Elks Lodge and exulted ruler. He was past commander
and chaplain of American Legion Post 5 in Kingfisher. He was a licensed
pilot, owning his own plane and co-owner of an airport. He was a
past member of Kingfisher Board of Education, an insurance agent
for Farmers Mutual Insurance, co-owner of MSW Farm Supply and was
on the advisory board of Kingfisher Bank and Trust. He was a square
dance caller and made a square dancing record. He was an auxiliary
police officer for the city of Kingfisher.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine, of the home; five
children, Dennis and Rodney Mueggenborg, both of Kingfisher, Alan
Mueggenborg of The Woodlands, Texas, Diane Ray of Oklahoma City,
and Paula Leffingwell of Elkhart, Kan.; two brothers, James Mueggenborg
of Kingfisher and Henry Mueggenborg of Rockdale, Texas; six sisters,
Dorothy Taylor of Shawnee, Marilyn Stangl of Okarche, Peg Feuerborn
of Edmond, Martha James of Greeley, Colo., Jane Smola of Stillwater
and Pat Crone of Whitesboro, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.
