Funeral service for Vernon J. Kohorst of Arcadia will be at noon Friday, May 26, 2000, at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.

Mr. Kohorst, 69, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

The Rev. William Schreiber will officiate the service. Visitation starts at 10 Friday morning at the funeral home.

A funeral Mass and burial at St. John Catholic Church and Cemetery in Arcadia will be held later at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be left at the funeral home in lieu of flowers

.Born Jan. 18, 1931, at Arcadia, he was a son of Joe and Mary (Steinkamp) Kohorst. He attended St. John Grade School and Arcadia High School and spent most of his life in this community.

He and Nola M. Weitl were married Sept. 22, 1955, at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton.They farmed in the Roselle area a short time then moved to the Kohorst family farm north of Arcadia in 1963.

Mr. Kohorst was a member of St. John parish in Arcadia and enjoyed bowling, auto racing and baseball.

Survivors include his wife, Nola, of Arcadia; three sons and their wives; Alan and Melinda Kohorst of New Orleans, La., Oran and Mary Kohorst of Arcadia and Aden and Diane Kohorst of Arcadia; six grandchildren; three sisters and their husbands; Celina and Earl Schechinger of Adams, Minn., Jean and William Lawler, of Carroll, and Betty and Fenton Lawler of Westside; and the following brothers and sisters-in-law; Arlene and Gaylord Stangl of Coon Rapids, Marlo and Almyra Weitl of Roselle, Charles and Pet Weitl of Templeton, Norbert Weitl and fiancée Sue Feilmeier of Carroll, Sister Myra Weitl of Okolona, Miss., and Ruth Weitl of York, Neb.

Mr. Kohorst was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law; Charles and Anna Weitl; and a brother-in-law, Richard Weitl.
