William Simon Becker 1900-1994

William S. Becker, 93, of Glidden died Saturday, March
5, 1994, at his son's home near Dunlap, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, March 8, at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Glidden with
Father Richard Kielbasa officiating. Homilist will be Father Robert
Garlapp.
Born May 4, 1900, at Flint Hill, Mo., he was a son
of Clemens and Helena (Koester) Becker. At the age of 19 Mr. Becker
moved to Breda.
On September 29, 1925, he married Amelia Reising at
St. Bernard Church in Breda. They farmed in the Breda area. In 1955,
they moved to a farm near Thayer, Iowa. In 1968, they moved to a
home in Glidden.
Since his wife's death, Mr. Becker has made his home
with his sons, Arthur and Allen.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Glidden.
Mr. Becker is survived by nine sons, Arthur Becker
and his wife, Dorothy, of Dunlap, Robert Becker and his wife, Joanne
of Carroll, William G. Becker and his wife, Mary Lou, of Carroll,
John Becker and his wife Marna, of Afton, Iowa, Zenas Becker and
his wife, Loa, of Carroll, Jerome Becker of Glidden, Allen Becker
and his wife, Joanne of Perry, Gary Becker and his wife, Maureen,
of Perry and Gene Becker and his wife, Kaye, of Pemeroy, Iowa; three
daughters, Helen Wolterman and her husband, Wilbur, of Carroll,
Clarita Roth and her husband, Richard, of Spencer and Phyllis Danner
and her husband, Verlin, of Glidden; a daughter-in-law, Eileen Becker
of Des Moines; 47 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; and a sister,
Odelia Lemkeu of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife,
Amelia in 1977; a daughter, Jovina Becker; a son, Michael Becker;
three grandchildren, Randy, Betty and Timothy Becker; two great-grandchildren,
Christopher and Jerry Wolterman; five brothers. Al, Vic, Ted, Ed,
and Clemens Becker; and two sisters, Clementine Drees and Ida Bennett.
