The
Rev. Msgr. Zeno Reising, 67, pastor of St. Margaret's Catholic Church
at Rolfe for the past 3 ½ years, died of an apparent heart
attack at the parish rectory Sunday evening. He was a native of
Breda and a former chaplain at St. Anthony Hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Margaret's
Catholic Church where the Most Rev. Frank H. Greteman, bishop of
the Sioux City diocese will celebrate the mass of Christian burial.
The casket will then be brought to Breda to lie in state at St.
Bernard's Church until 11 a.m. Friday, when the parish mass will
be celebrated. Internment will be in the parish cemetery at Breda,
under direction of the Powers Funeral Home of Rolfe.
Msgr. Reising was born at Breda Oct. 23, 1908, a son
of Max and Clara Boes Reising. He attended school through eighth
grade at Breda, high school and college at Conception, Mo., and
graduated from McHenry Seminary, St. Louis, Mo. On June 3, 1934,
he was ordained to the priesthood in Sioux City by the late Most
Rev. Edmond F. Heelan, D.D.
Besides serving as chaplain at the hospital in Carroll,
he was assistant pastor at Granville and pastor at Merrill, Anthon
and Brancroft before going to Rolfe. While at Anthon he was dean
of the Northwest Deanery.
Msgr. Reising was a member of the Knights of Columbus,
the Rolfe Chamber of Commerce and the Lion's Club, also at Rolfe.
Surviving are two brothers, Gregory Reising of Mapleton
and Mike Reising of Breda; four sister, Mrs. William Becker, of
Glidden, Mrs. Rosina O'Tool of Carroll, Mrs. Jerry (Leone) Eischeid
of Guthrie Center and Mrs. Walter (Bernice) Pudenz of Rose Creek,
Minn.
