 Margaret Victoria Pappe (Tiffany) 1914 - 2010

Vale, Oregon—Margaret V. (Pappe) Tiffany, 95, slipped away peacefully in her sleep at home in Vale, Ore., Jan. 30, 2010.
Margaret was born Nov. 1, 1914, in Union City, Okla., the second of five children born to George and Mary Magdalene (Clasen) Pappe.
Margaret graduated as salutatorian from her high school class in Geary, Okla., in 1933. With the help of their parish priest, she had made the necessary preparations to enter the Convent.
Due to the severity of the economic times, she postponed entering the convent to help support her family. They sold the family farm and headed west like so many others.
They first moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, eventually settling in Jamieson, Ore., where they began the arduous task of clearing the land of sagebrush to farm.
She met and married Francis E. Tiffany, who had moved from North Dakota to Oregon, also in search of a better life. They were married April 6, 1942, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Vale, Ore. Her life’s calling was now wife and mother. To this union was born six children. Margaret held many jobs throughout her long working career. Francis and Margaret bought the Vale Laundry in 1969 for “something to do” in retirement. They both continued to happily work into their late 80s. They were active members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Margaret and Francis were married 56 years.
 Margaret is survived by her brothers, Philip (Claudine) and Jerry; her six children, John (Diane), William (Linda), Tom (Kay), Richard (Judy), Margaret and Trish (Tom) Dey; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; a still-born son; her husband, Francis (1998); brothers, Joe and George; and daughter-in-law, Shannon.
Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Everybody who entered her house was treated like family. There was always an extra place at the table and plenty of food to share.
Margaret loved every day of her life and, in doing so, made the lives of those around her better. She always put the needs of others ahead of her own and never hesitated to help somebody in need. We are comforted in knowing she is at peace and with our Dad.
Special thanks to Heart ‘N Home Hospice Care for their kindness and assistance. Memorials can be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or Heart ‘N Home Hospice Care. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Vale with Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday.
