Father
Boes, the son of John and Anna K. (Geier) Boes, and grandson of
Gerhard and Anna (Nieland)
Boes, was born January 27, 1914 on a farm northwest of Breda. Iowa.
He was ordained May 21, 1939 at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in
Sioux City by Bishop Edmond Heelan and his first Solemn Mass was
celebrated in St. Bernard's Church. Father Boes served as an assistant
at St. Joseph's in Dedham until June, 1941, when he was appointed
assistant at Blessed Sacrament in Sioux City. Then, in 1944, he
was appointed pastor of St. Mary's Pomeroy. In May, 1954 he was
appointed pastor of St. Joseph's in Salix and remained there until
July of 1968, when he was appointed pastor of St. Mary's in Alton.
He also served as D.D.C.W. Director for the southwest Deanery and
became director of the Family Life Bureau of the Southwest Deanery
in 1968.

Father Norbert Boes died September 24, 1971 in Carroll,
Iowa and is buried in St. Bernard Cemetery in Breda.
