Elisabeth
(Diekmann) Meyer with Sons, 1962 Maria
"Elisabeth" Bernhardine Diekmann (1891-1967) was the
daughter of Catherina Elisabeth Wittrock (1867-1947)
a first cousin of immigrant ancestors Henry Wittrock and his
sisters, Theresia Siemer, Mary Stallmann, and Caroline Pfeifer.
In the 1950s five of Elisabeth's nine sons emigrated from Germany
and settled in Chicago, Boston and other parts of the USA. This
photo shows Elisabeth visiting her immigrant sons in Chicago
in 1962.

Maria Paulina "Mary" Wittrock
and Bernard Heinrich Stallman's sons, about 1920 Bernard and Mary (Wittrock) Stallman had six sons and three daughters. The first four children were born in Carroll County, Iowa, near Templeton. The family then moved to Boone County, Nebraska, where the last 5 children were born. Four Stallman brothers homesteaded in Wyoming, near Manville—Barney (Mary and Bernard Stallman's fourth child), Joe (fifth), Jake (seventh) and Alvis (eighth). Alvis later relocated to Texas. The photo was taken in front of Jake's cabin on Upper Lightning Creek.

Mildred Wittrock's Photo Albums These
two wonderful old photo albums contain more than 150 snapshots
that span the years from 1915 to 1940. Taken mostly in Okarche,
Oklahoma, and Breda, Iowa, they include many Wittrocks and Nielands
as well as Brauns, Hoebings, Steinkamps, Mueggenborgs and others.
Through these pictures we get a glimpse of everyday life in
rural America before, during, and after the Great Depression
and can share in the joys and hardships of our ancestors.
Gerald Smith's Photo Album These snapshots, from the photo collection
of Gerald Smith, belonged to his mother, Marie Wittrock Smith.
The photos show Marie and Anton Smith and their families and
are of the same era as Mildred Wittrock's photos. Most of these
pictures were taken in Okarche, Oklahoma but a few were taken
in Humphrey, Nebraska.
