She tenderly maintained her colorful displays of many varieties of roses, annuals, climbing vines, as well as her many different herbs and fruit trees. She also designed and planted many beautiful Fairy Gardens for her home and friends. She passed on the art of making Fairy Gardens to her daughter.

Rita Florina Wittrock (1926-2009)
Mrs. Stanley Forman

The Kingfisher Times and Free Press , November 25, 2009

Rita Florina Forman, 82, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in Kingfisher Regional Hospital.

A wake service was held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was set for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Cashion Cemetery under direction of Sanders Funeral Service.

She was born Dec. 24, 1926, in Okarche to Joe and Rose Nieland Wittrock.

She grew up on a farm with five brothers and one sister and attended Holy Trinity Catholic High School.

Rita’s mother died when she was seven years old. She and her sister, Mildred, cooked, cleaned, sewed, made their own soap, churned butter, canned food and helped raise brothers with their father Joe on the farm.

She attended Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University. She lived in Murry Hall and held a job at the dental office on campus. Her education was cut short when her father, Joe, died and she felt she was needed at home with her brothers.

She met Stanley Forman in El Reno at a dance hall called “The Y.” Her sister, Mildred, and Mildred’s husband, Max, introduced Stanley to her.

Stanley followed up by taking her to a movie in Kingfisher the next night.

They were married May 15, 1947, in Oklahoma City.

At Stanley’s Kingfisher High School reunion, Stanley proudly introduced Rita Florina Wittrock Forman, the Belle of Okarche.

It was not uncommon at many dances and activities for those in attendance to clear the dance floor and marvel at Rita and Stanley’s dancing skills. Although they liked the waltz, the polka was their all time favorite.

After their marriage, she moved her membership to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher.

She became a faithful member of Sts. Peter and Paul Altar Society.

She supported her children as they attended Cashion Public Schools, helping in FFA, 4-H, Booster Club, sports and always had them there at 7 a.m. for band practices.

She enjoyed cooking the meals in the fields while farming and the hands always looked forward to her homemade egg sandwiches and various other treats. She enjoyed her monthly canasta card events with her friends. Rita always looked forward to many family gatherings, especially preparing and hosting Thanksgivings and Christmas.

In Rita’s last month, her eyesight failed but she never lost her wonderful positive outlook and spirit. She always lived by faith, not just by sight. She was the quiet, ever-present strength of our family.

Survivors include two brothers, Cletus Wittrock of Okarche and Carlos Wittrock of Bethany; three sons, Steve Forman and Jeff Forman, both of Kingfisher, and Alan Forman of Tulsa; one daughter, Charlotte Blevins of Yukon; 10 grandchildren, Stephen, Corby, Eric, Samuel, Jason, Amanda, Landon and Madison Forman and Blair and Brittany Blevins, and three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Morgan and Camryn Forman.

Memorial donations may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Altar Society.
